When we got the news that we are in the final of Winemaker of the Year competetion, we were all a little surprised. This is a competition where we haven't done much so far. But it had one advantage, we didn't have that much expectation. But the more we are happy about the result. In yesterday's final, which was ceremonially announced in Prague's Žofín Palace, we took second place, just behind the winning Mikrosvín Mikulov and before the third Chateau Winery Bzenec.
The judges of the Winemaker of the Year competition evaluate the quality of the five wines collection, nothing else. The jury consists of important Czech sommeliers and foreign holders of the title Master of Wine, which is the highest international title for wine connoisseurs.
“Just the cast of the jury and the fact who is among us winners says a lot. Personally, I am very happy about the points each wine has received. According to backstage information, we gained over 95 points for the Pálava 2016 Straw wine,” said our winemaker Olda Drápal after the finals.
We composed our „silver“ collection of Riesling VOC 2015, Riesling Noble rot 2017, Chardonnay & Pinot gris 2016 and Merlot 2016 and Palava Straw wine 2016.
