Podcast Between the Rows: Anyone can be a sommelier

It may seem like great art, but as with many other human activities, a sommelier is what he does in his day-to-day work and learning. At least this is stated by Roman Novotný, the leading sommelier of the well-known Prague wine bar Bokovka, a guest of the latest part of the Sonberk's podcast Between the Rows. You can now play it on Soundtier, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify if you understand the Czech language.

The interview with Roman Novotný is an advertisement for wine and its consumption. He can talk about its natural origin, its aromas and tastes, and how beautiful it is to listen to the sound when wine flows from a bottle into a glass. At the same time, however, he stands with his feet on the ground and does not let anyone unnecessarily romanticize a sommelier's work. "People often take it as being the ones who open bottles and talk wisely about their contents. That may be true, but we are also warehouse workers, marketers, consultants for bars and restaurants, and, on the other hand, also for winemakers, who we're repeatedly visiting," said Novotný what his work entails.

In the fifth part of the podcast, you will learn what world wines are perfectly recognizable, how they are evaluated in competitions, which ones to watch out for, and how the guide named The Best Wines of the Czech Republic is created.
