We don't talk about this wine very often, but that doesn't mean that our Riesling selection of noble berries doesn't deserve it. Exactly opposite. This specialty, with a high amount of residual sugar of nearly 140 grams per liter, is definitely not suitable for everything and certainly not for everyday drinking. But opening it means special day, because the food that it is ideally paired with this wine will take it to a whole new level.
Currently, high quality of this wine was reminded by Prague Wine Trophy competetion evaluators who ranked it among the best naturally sweet wines in the competition. They gave him a total of 93.25 points and the title Prague Premium Gold. The same Riesling glittered at our last gastronomic evening, where it created an excellent combination with an orange-toned variation on créme brulée.
“This wine is perfect for sweets, desserts, but also for very fat, mature cheeses. This type of wine and the right food are just as inseparable as football and Lionel Messi, a classic example of connection that will lead to an explosion in your mouth, ” explains Dáša Fialová, our marketing director. Sonberk's selection of noble berries is compared to the famous French wine of the Sauternes, for which the cult partner is roquefort cheese. “Not everyone would have guessed, but it really will sit well with fat-ripened cheese and desserts with a touch of citrus,” Dáša adds.
In addition, when counting the number of awards, this wine is the most successful in the entire existence of Sonberk winery. In 2017 it even received a platinum medal in the famous Decanter World Wine Awards and Best in category.
