We still hear it from time to time and we still don't like it. In Moravia, they don´t know, how to create red wine, some people sometimes say. Important evidence that this is not true was the result of the third round of the Prague Wine Trophy competetion. Our Merlot 2015 absolutely reigned in this variety and got the title Prague Wine Champion. With 92 points, this wine has left behind dozens of competitors from France, Italy or overseas countries.
The Prague competition is specific because wines are evaluated by category. And because it has the largest percentage of foreign participants, which provides good comparison to Moravian and Czech producers. “This result is an important information to us in the sense that our Merlot still maintains really high quality. In the past it has won the title of regional champion several times in this competetion and last year won another Czech international competetion Oenoforum as well,” reminded our marketing director Dáša Fialová. So this fresh award is no coincidence.
Creating Merlot is not a simple task. We can offer just a few thousands of bottles. And for example in years 2013 and 2014, we preferred to do rosé because of bad weather and rain. "But we remember its taste and quality so far," Dáša pointed out.
Unfortunately the fresh Prague Wine Champion is sold out and so is his junger brother, we mean Merlot 2016 (we have just Magnum bottles). However, we are slowly counting down the days until the launch of the 2017 edition. It should appear on the market in the pre-Christmas period, so follow carefully our Facebook page and e-shop.
