We have something special for you (Not only) Riesling is packed into magnum type bottles.

If you're still looking for a special gift for wine lovers but do not want to buy a classic, we have one tip here this year. We've just put our three wines on Sonberk in a special package - 1.5-liter Magnum bottles. Why and why is it good?

In the past, we have already put our Merlot in large bottles. It was only in a very limited number of 200 bottles, which were always watched by our most loyal customers, so you can find them in good restaurants, such as Borgo Agnese in Brno or Pavillon. Now we have extended the offer so that for a few days you can buy at our e-shop three types of magnificent wines: dry Riesling 2017 VOC, semi-dry Riesling Noble rot and cuvée Chardonnay & Pinot Gris 2016, which is the successor of the famous year 2015 stored in the Salon of Wines 2018.

"The year 2017 is very good, it is very intense, with a strong solid acid, so it suits it well and it is just this bottle size ideal. The wine breathes through the cork, but with a larger volume, the volume of wine to the cork area is not much bigger, so the ripening takes a slower opening of the bigger one at a minimum, so the bottle provides better conditions, "explains our marketing director Dasha Fialová.

Wine should be matured for at least three to five years, then it will be in the best shape. All of our magnums are sealed with golden sealing wax, which further improves maturing conditions. The golden and not so often seen closure will take care of the experience and a little different experience. The bottles are sealed with a 49 mm natural cork stopper (45 mm in standard size) and each plug has been tested for TCA which is what causes corking.

For a better selection, you can look at our e-shop (http://www.sonberk.cz/en/9-magnum). Each of the wines packed in magnums is there for 1077 CZK and still stored in a wooden cassette.

The bottle size, by the way, hides a piece of wine history. A standard volume of 0.75 liter was created to unify the trade between France and the United Kingdom, which had so long argued that they had stabilized at that size. Among other things, because at that time wine was made with less alcohol, and one bottle would have to be the optimum amount for one person. Magnums are mainly red wines in Europe or those that ripen in the barrel, so that generally the quality of the longer wine bottle development is better.

The bottles are sealed with a 49 mm natural cork stopper (45 mm in standard size) and each plug has been tested for TCA debris causing corking.
