Young Moravian Muscat 2019 goes on sale

We walked around the vineyard and its grapes all year round to watch them ripen, and now we have finally the first one in liquid form. As usual we send for sale as the first one from current edition the ultra-dry Moravian Muscat, which has only 0.4 grams of residual sugar per liter.

As a result, the characteristics of the variety stand out and the wine lasts far more than the traditionally sold young wines.

“Technologically, this is the easiest wine to create. The juice is simply fermented without any interruption. When the process is over, we can simply watch it," describes our winemaker Olda Drapal, who goes somewhat against the wine mainstream.

Normally, young wines are left with a higher amount of residual sugar. They are often bought by people who otherwise do not look for wine and need a slightly sweeter taste. In addition, sugar will enhance the taste of otherwise dull wine. Sonberk's young Muscat doesn't need it. “It is a variety whose taste is the best when it comes to low sugar. It does not have a very high acid content, so if sugar is left in it, it will act dull,“ Olda explains.

This is one of the reason why Olda does not even think about creating more varienty of young wine. They would not surpass Muscat.

By the way, thanks to last year's great harvest, we have exceptionally the last few bottles of 2018, which is in great shape this year. Who would like to compare them both 2018 and 2019 can be found in our e-shop.
